About Gubba

My name is Gubba. Let me help you pronounce it. “goo – bah” . I thought first of changing my name to make it easier to know how to pronounce it, but I decided against it for aesthetic reasons. I like how it looks. Thats pretty much why I draw what I draw. I draw characters doing what they want to do and I like to give life to all the many inanimate things around me. Lightbulbs, telephones, pencils, toasters, boxes, spools of thread, assorted fruit…..I just feel certain that its possible to make it come to life if I really want it to.

I work with a variety of mediums, though my favorite has always been pen and ink on paper. By ink, I mean anything inky, and by paper, I mean anything with a blank space on it. My present style is growing by the minute, and filled with cute cartoons and creatures with strange assortments of accessories and beverages on hand. Everything I see is an influence. I see a telephone and I think about a telephone animated. I see a piece of paper on the ground and feel sorry for how many dirty shoes have stepped on its crinkled face. I see a spoon and think about how happy it is when its clean…etc etc.

The purpose of my blog since creation has expanded. Initially it was meant for only my art, and artistic goals. But I also use it to state my opinions, discuss ideas, and tell you about my day. I am pro-choice, agnostic, I love my job, I love freedom to choose, I am passionate about life, and I talk about that sometimes, so if that doesn’t fit with your tastes, than thats okay, there are a million other blogs to read.

I also realize that my family sometimes reads my blog, and I am happy to know that you can follow my life as it goes on its little way. Hope I don’t scare or surprise you too much, and if I do, we can always talk about it sometime. We all grow up our own ways…
